Week 3

I started on the environment model for the interior of the main characters house. I produced a block out model first to get an understanding of scale, positioning, etc. This scene requires more detail than the Hawaiian environment as we needed to show the essence of the character through the design of the room. Through the rest of the week I carried on designed the environment.
I met up with Mark this week and we discussed the issue regarding my dissertation. I basically found out that smaller animation companies weren’t really being suppressed by the larger ones. So this went totally against my dissertation question. From this we discussed possible grounds to which I direction to go in. We came up with several key areas that I found interesting and that I could look into before the next meeting.

Week 2

This week I continued building the environment slowly doing away with the blocked out version. I thought it would also be good if the environment could move due to the wind i.e. the plant life. I thought I would leave that to a later point in the term thou. I also added new features to the modelled environment like a washing line, with a couple of shirts hanging from it. I made the environment a bit too detailed only because when it came to blocking out we could delete the appropriate. I showed Becca the modelled environment for Hawaii and she liked the model and highlighted the areas that would need changing.
I looked into particular words regarding the dissertation and found mainly points that kind of caused me problems with my idea. Unfortunately I was unable to meet Mark this week to discuss what I found.

Week 1

On the first week back Becca and myself discussed the following term. We planned out what had to be done roughly be the end of each week. I had already started on the Hawaiian environment during the Christmas period (blocking everything out) so this week was just a further development for that.
I met my dissertation tutor this week also who was Mark Garrett. I told him about my dissertation idea about the globalisation of animation companies and that very day he gave me a couple of areas to look up.

Term 2
